Award #1 – Polybag of the year

So here we go with day one of the 2015 Brick Fanatics Awards (The Emmets). This year Adam, Séb, Luc and myself (Keith also jumps in on certain awards) all picked our preferred choice then the winner is the one with most picks wins. So, polybags – love them or hate them, they are a staple part of all LEGO fans’ collections and this year we have had some awesome little sets to grab, which,  depending on your location have been easy or hard to obtain. So, without any further time-wasting, here are this year’s nominations;

Adam – Creator Tractor

A great little set and quite unique, plus fun to build.

Séb – Joker Bumper Car

I think the polybag of the year is a tough one. There have been a few key minifigures released via polybag including The Winter Soldier and the new Force Awakens C3-PO to name but two, but I think a polybag should include more than just a minifigure. It should be a self-contained LEGO set that can provide a quick fix for those in need of a LEGO building experience. For that reason, I’m going to say the Joker Bumper Car is the winner. Not only does it include a minifigure which is highly appealing in itself (not to mention a cheaper way of getting the Joker), but the model itself was a fantastic little build, and with a few alterations provides the basis for many coloured variants for your own little Jokerland dodgems stall. The perfect polybag in my eyes. Honourable mention goes to 30284 Creator Tractor, which was an excellent model for its scale.

Luc – Garbage Truck

I’m just going to throw this out there: It doesn’t look much but my daughter played with it… a lot, and that means good design and great value. I also consider that as a small ‘street sweeper’ set, it doesn’t become obsolete when you get a bigger bin lorry and it would probably fit right into an existing city setup without looking like a polybag set; not many can do that.

Richard – Joker Bumper Car

Easy pick for me as I’m not a fan of small sets, with a few exceptions. I got a full set of the Daily Mail polybags yet this is only one I kept the rest were either broken down for parts or given away. This is a fab little set and a great way of getting the Joker minifigure. Not only that it goes great with my Jokerland set.

    This would be my choice too (from the 4 polybags I own from this year) for the same reasons as Séb. It had a lot of useful parts and a great figure that wouldn’t normaly be in my price range.
    I would award it the LEGO Movie Trophy – The Cloud Cuckoo Land Rainbow Award for Creativity: *cough cough subtle reminder*

    Yep, great choice for winner this year. It was a perfect polybag in my opinion; looks great on display, has playability and a terrific minifigure.
