Bricks in Motion LEGO exhibition at Chester Cathedral
Bright Bricks’ Bricks in Motion exhibition returns this weekend, hosted by Chester Cathedral, with a number of standout LEGO displays promised.
The exhibition begins on July 16 and runs through to September 4 and will have more than 100 models on show, including a seven-metre long replica of the Titantic, a space shuttle, Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes F1 car, horse-drawn carriages and Concorde.
Duncan Titmarsh, the United Kingdom’s only certified LEGO professional, was one of 22 LEGO artists who put together the exhibition, with the builds taking a year to put together. “We are very excited about bringing the Bricks in Motion show to Chester and are delighted to be displaying our models in the magnificent setting of Chester Cathedral,” he said, the Chester Chronicle reports.
Peter Howell-Jones, Vice Dean of Chester Cathedral, added: “We jumped at the chance to host the Bricks in Motion exhibition as it will appeal to families during the summer holidays and we are excited to see such detailed LEGO craftsmanship on display.”
The cathedral will also have a LEGO pit in the Refectory Café and there will be a series of hour-long LEGO Make and Take workshops on August 6, 13 and 27, in which children aged 5-10 can build a sports car and compete in a speed challenge on a special track at a price of £10.
The exhibition is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 3.30pm of a Saturday and 1pm-3pm on Sundays. Tickets cost £3 for adults and £2.50 for children, and a family ticket is available for £10.
