Giant LEGO Death Star built to celebrate May the Fourth
With all of the shopping opportunities taking place to celebrate May the Fourth, it’s heartening to hear that there is building going on too – with fans in Sydney building a LEGO Death Star smaller than a small moon, but still pretty darn big.
3,000 fans participated over the past week in the build activity, led by the LEGO Group’s Chris Steininger. The Australian Telegraph report that 210,000 bricks were added to build the 545kg model in the Warringah Mall in Sydney, Australia.
The professional model builder shared his thoughts with the publication:
‘It’s awesome to see the long-lasting legacy that both Lego and Star Wars holds with Aussies of all ages.’
The Death Star will be on display for the rest of the week at the Warringah Mall.
