LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy 30449 The Milano review

30449 The Milano is available in stores at the moment, so we picked up a copy to see exactly what you get for around a week’s pocket money

Price: £4.99 / $n/a / €n/a Pieces: 64 Available: Now

Not that I spend all my free time hanging out at toy shops, but today I was cruising the aisles at my local Toys R Us when I spotted this bad boy, freshly stocked and begging to be bought.

30449 The Milano is priced at £4.99 and is most likely in line for a promotion at the retailer in the near future, what with Guardians of the Galaxy due in cinemas in just over two weeks’ time. It is worth noting that staff at my Toys R Us couldn’t confirm its involvement in any promotion, so, if you can’t wait for it to be possibly free, how does it rate at just under a fiver?

A handheld build, it sits a little under the size of the version of the same ship that comes in 76081 Milano vs. The Abilisk. I exaggerate, but if you’ve purchased 76081 perhaps because you missed out on 76021 The Milano Spaceship Rescue, or because you were looking for a design upgrade on 76021, you know it’s disappointingly small.

This polybag version, however, embraces compactness and achieves all the design points necessary to make it a satisfactory build and a credible replica of its film equivalent. The colours are a dead match for the Milano in 76081, whilst there are almost as many points of articulation to it too.

At this price, or perhaps available later on in a promotion (unconfirmed, so will you hang around to find out?), there’s not a lot to critique about 30449 The Milano.

Polybag collectors will already have a couple of these, whilst its size does open the opportunity to building up a whole fleet of them, a la key battle in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.
