LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens tops the UK sales charts for the fourth week running
In case you needed any more proof that LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is TT Games’ finest effort in years, it’s just claimed the number one spot in the UK sales charts for the fourth consecutive week, according to MCV. That puts it only one week behind the studio’s current record holder, LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
The game’s success will no doubt fuel the fires of future Star Wars games, which is no bad thing in our book. Even with its continued impressive sales record, however, individual unit sales did fall week-on-week – a fact MCV has attributed to the summer holidays and last week’s boost from Amazon Prime Day.
The full chart reads like a weird time warp, with FIFA 16 taking the second spot despite its annual successor only two months away from release. With Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Rocket League and Minecraft also rounding out the top 10, it might be argued that The Force Awakens hasn’t had much competition in terms of new releases – but it’s still held its own against a genuinely recent release, Blizzard’s team shooter Overwatch.
The full software chart for the week ending July 23 can be found below. Don’t forget to check out our review of – and behind-the-scenes look at – LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as our list of the top 10 LEGO games.

- I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
