World’s tallest LEGO tower constructed in Tel Aviv

Residents of Tel Aviv, Israel have constructed what looks to be the world’s tallest ever LEGO tower.

The latest LEGO record that has been broken is the tallest tower, with Tel Aviv residents using over 500,000 LEGO bricks to build a 36 metre high tower. As a tribute to LEGO fan Omer Sayag, who died at eight years old in 2014 after contracting cancer, the structure was named Omer Tower.

Sky News reports that cranes were called in to complete the tower in Rabin Square, with thousands of local residents getting involved in adding bricks to the substantial build. Ron Huldai, the Mayor, saw the event as success in bringing together all parts of the community.

The record breaking build must now be ratified by Guinness World Records experts.
